Blizzard

So we survived the blizzard of 2013.
We got over 2 feet of snow and spent the night watching movies, making homemade pizzas and enjoying some cocktails (chocolate wine to be specific) it is so good! I even put a picture below so I'll always remember the delicious brand. There's something about being snowed in that makes you feel all cozy and giddy inside, or is that just me? I'll never turn down a quiet night with my boys!
Grant was filled with e ergy, as he always is and loved seeing the snow this morning. We were able to take him outside for a quick 10 minute up close and personal encounter with inches upon inches of snow. I dropped the ball on getting him a snowsuit in time for the storm. Oops!! Plenty of time for that.
I have quite a few videos recently taken. It seems every day there's something new and hilarious he is doing or saying. I'm thankful to be able to save those moments on something like this and be able to share! He started saying "all done" yesterday. So funny and adorable. He also has a weird obsession with Andrew's protein containers.. he carries them around the house and puts them in different rooms for hours on if we let him. He's starting to identify things too and relate them to things he already knows... (the cookbook video). I'll let you see for yourself in the videos below!
Hope everyone stayed warm, cozy and safe this storm! I think this one will go down in history, at least for this family!

Grant being a GOOF!

Seriously delicious... must try.

Caught him in a nap. He might kill me.

Let's try this again

Well,
It's been way too long since I last blogged. I guess I dropped the ball on that one! As you can imagine a whole lot has changed since my last post!
Grant is now 16 months and growing faster than ever. He is such a little joy and each day his personality shines more and more. He is 26 lbs, 33 inches, and ALL boy. The child is in perpetual motion, he does not slow down and this results in Mom and Dad on the move non-stop. I can't say either one of us mind, though... he's been so much fun these past few months.
He now says several words: ball, up, more, hi, bye, eye, mole (yes, he points to Andrew's moles and tells us what they are... you can thank Andrew for that one), book, hot, no and the famous "oh wow" and "oh no"... he's learning more and more each day!
His favorite shows include Sesame Street, The Mickey Mouse club and Yo Gabba Gabba(which I find kind of frightening). He has quite the appetite and is not known to refuse many kinds of foods, while this is something we are both thankful for, it is sometimes difficult to pull him away from tables of food at parties, family gatherings etc. He must take after his parents "bottomless pit" characteristic- I like to call it a talent.
He is healthy, happy and smart. We are excited for the warmer weather when he can play outside and run around the yard. I often feel bad that he's cooped up with all of his energy- but that is sure to change in a few months!

Andrew and I are healthy and happy as well! We have been trying the "paleo" diet which basically takes us back to the "caveman" days- lots of meat, veggies and fruit. I've cut out gluten which has been interesting to say the least. I've felt so much better since doing so and I'm confident that eliminating it from my diet solved a lot of my problems I've had in the past! I'm going to try to incorporate a bunch of different things in this blog (again, I'm going to TRY) as we all know how it turned out last time...

I'd like to include my favorite recipes, some of my favorite things I've learned over the past few months that make me a happy lady. This might include food, makeup, healthy snacks, household remedies, fun activities, workouts, pictures, etc. Why not, right?? I figured if I learned from other people's blogs and youtube videos then I should share the wealth!

Andrew and Grant a few months back :)
Hanging out in the cold yard!
 Bath time!

A little peak at Gran'ts bedtime routine... playing around with youtube- I'll get better someday!
Car Rides...PEW!

Not much to report otherwise! I will try to stay frequent with posting (at least once a week) and hopefully we will all have some fun things to look back on years from now in my blog archive :)

Thanks for reading! Be happy :)

Spring is here!

Spring is finally here!!! March came and went and April is almost gone already, which is absolutely insane. This Easter was spent with my side of the family as traveling gets to be a little too crazy with a little one. We missed the Meader side but we will switch and spend all of Thanksgiving with them! Easter was fun though, the food was great and Grant was able to spend a lot of QT with his great aunts and uncles. Since he's getting a little bigger now he wasn't sleeping 90% of the time and doesn't get as overwhelmed with a lot of people like he used to a few months ago. We went to church with Nana, my mom & dad, brother, and Aunt Patty and Lisa. Grant's first church experience wasn't bad at all! He was very well-behaved, I have to say Andrew and I lucked out with a pretty easy baby :) He is getting so big! He is almost 7 months and has quite the personality these days. He's sitting up himself, holding his bottle, blabbing away and reaching for everything in sight! He really is such a joy to be around, always smiling and laughing :) I can't believe how fast time is flying by! We'll be in the lake in a few short months teaching the little bugger how to swim! We just recently got a hiking back pack for both Grant and Kahlua. Those should be fun to use... Andrew will carry Grant around and Kahlua will carry her own water. Can't wait to take pictures of that adventure, that's what excites us these days. He's been tooling around in his walker, learning that he can get from point A to point B with just few shuffles. Pretty soon he's going to be outsmarting the both of us! I will leave you with some pictures! Can't wait to post some from the warmer weather and hopefully we will get some on a hike soon! xoxo

Laughing Boy

Here's a little preview for March. Grant is definitely developing his own little personality these days, he's laughing, blowing bubbles, talking and all other kinds of fun things. Here's a little video taken March 5th, he has never laughed this hard up until this point! So funny.

I cannot believe that February has come and is almost gone! I feel like it has flown by! I am sad to report that we were NOT Superbowl winners, I know everyone is already well aware but this is for documenting purposes and I'd like to document my disappointment and sadness. Grant is doing great, officially 5 months and growing like crazy! He had a doctor appointment this month and he is weighing in at 17lbs 26in and is in the 75th percentile as far as weight goes, 50th for height. The doctor said that she thinks he's going to be sitting up sometime soon at 5 months! He's eating solids like a champ. Carrots and pears being his favorites. He's been eating for about a month now and let me tell you it has totally helped in the sleeping department. I'm only really waking up once to feed and change him now which is great! He's a little love.

As far as the rest of February goes, Andrew and I went on our first snowboarding extravaganza together. (Andrew has went a few times this season, but it was my first!) The last time I tried snowboarding was right after our wedding... it's been awhile but I had fun! This winter has been so incredibly mild we haven't been able to really take advantage of winter(ly) activities. It's making me want summer to come with a quickness! I will leave you with a few pictures from February and a video. Until next month! Hopefully I will have more to report :) Hope everyone is well, sending lots of love to all of you!

A couple cute things from January

So it's still January and I said I would post again in February but this just couldn't wait. Yesterday I had a really long day at work and Grant got to spend time with both his grandmothers. Meme came over first and told me that Grant was bouncing himself to sleep and it was the funniest thing. Later, his other (un-named) grandmother came over and said the same thing! We have it on video and it's probably the cutest/funniest thing yet. He just couldn't fight it...

Another thing that happened this month is we started feeding G solids! That's right, he's eating apples, carrots, and oatmeal cereal so far. I've been making his food with my Beaba food processor... it's actually FUN for me! I just thought you would enjoy seeing Grant eat some carrots... ENJOY!
