My First Blog!
So this is my very first blog and I have to say I'm kind of excited! I thought this would be a great way to document Grant's first year, and if all goes well I'll keep posting! I wanted to share stories, pictures, Grant's memorable milestones, and also be able to have something to look back on down the road. Since I'm starting this in January instead of September (when Grant was born) I'll just give a quick summary of the past 4 months.
Best day ever. 9/26/11
September came and it felt like FOREVER but Grant finally came, 4 days late but perfectly healthy and wonderful. It was the most amazing day of my life. Everyone says you can't explain the feeling- and you really can't until you experience it, just instantaneous love. Andrew and I fell in love from the start and it's been the most amazing 4 months of our lives!
October was filled with a lot of new and different experiences. All good, but definitely life-changing. We finally (well, I finally) understood what sleep deprivation was. I guess Andrew has experienced it many times before being a big bad Navy SEAL and all... yeah, yeah, yeah... anyways, it was quite the adjustment! It was so great watching him grow and getting to know him. We had a nice Halloween in the middle of a brutal snow storm, yes, in October. We got around 2 feet of snow! Crazy. Grant was cute in his pumpkin onesie.
Our little jack-o-lantern on Halloween
November came and went, Thanksgiving was nice we got to spend it with both Andrew's family and mine. Two huge meals, it was pretty nice... my jeans didn't agree, but it only happens once a year! It's so nice to have so much of our family so close by, they loved having a baby around- it's been awhile for both sides! Grant really started smiling socially in November... just precious.
Thanksgiving!
Christmas was next! It was so exciting to finally have our own home to decorate and celebrate in. Andrew and I had our friends over for an ornament and cookie swap, it was a success! We all had a great time and it was our first big holiday party. We got to decorate our very own tree for the first time too! We chopped it down and brought it home and there she stood for a month. Loved it. Christmas Eve was crazy but fun! We went to Andrew's grandmother's house (Grammy) earlier in the day and my Aunt Diane's later in the evening, we had a great time spent with family. The next morning the Meader's came over to exchange gifts and then we had everyone over for dinner that night. A lot going on when you have a little baby who isn't sleeping through the night, yet, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! So glad we got to spend so much time with the one's we love. Grant got his first presents and it was just amazing having him to share my favorite holiday with! After Christmas was our 2nd wedding anniversary that we spent in Providence, RI. We had a great night away thanks to my Mom & Dad :) Grant stayed with his Meme and Pops. It was nice to have a little time to ourselves, although we talked about Grant mostly at dinner! Andrew's birthday was the day after and I got him a smoker!! This summer will be filled with BBQ. I am excited.
Christmas in our very first home<3
One of my personal favorites: Granta Claus
New Years was spent at my parents house- they had a party and we all had a blast. It's been a crazy warm January, and we were able to take a nice little family picture in our backyard with no coats.... see below. Most importantly, the Patriots are going to the SUPERBOWL! Hopefully February's post will be filled with winning stories...

Those are the last 4 months in a nutshell. Grant is growing before our eyes. His little personality is coming out and he is so vibrant and happy. He's starting to laugh and becoming more vocal each day. He's such a joy. We are so blessed! We are all doing great, healthy and happy and I couldn't ask for more! Since this post was EXTRA long I probably won't write again until next month, but I think I'll get the hang of this blogging ordeal. It seems like a great way to document precious moments that seem to fly by :) Until next time! xoxo
Although I remain un-named, I am thrilled to be a grandmother to this amazing little boy who can make my heart melt even when he decides to scream for 35 minutes before bed!!! He is nothing but a blessing and a constant reminder of what unconditional love feels like. And I have to add a comment about the amazing transition Andrew and Elise have made in becoming parents. You two have been a joy to watch. Elise, I have never been more proud of you. By the way, Grant will name me when he is ready!
Wow! great job Elise!! I love this ;-) Look forward to your next post you blogger you!!
